Paragliding training in Puli Taiwan is designed for beginners who want to become solo pilots and for adventure travelers who want a deeper experience than a standard tandem flight. Training starts with a one day taster course, then moves through the SPG1 novice license and the full SPG2+3 license.

One Day Taster Course
The one day taster course is the first step on the paragliding learning ladder. It helps you understand what it feels like to fly a paraglider and what the training model looks like before you commit to the full course.
- Basic theoretical knowledge about paragliding, including how wings fly and how weather affects flights.
- Tandem guided flight with the instructor where you experience full take off, flight, and landing procedures.
- Chance to feel control inputs in the air and, when conditions permit, to try basic piloting under instructor supervision.
- Initial ground parachute control at the training hill so you can handle the wing, lines, and harness.
- Training typically runs between 10 a.m and 4 p.m and includes time for weather checks and safety briefings.
- Students who complete this course can join further pilot courses and purchase equipment at discounted prices.
SPG1 – Eight Day Novice Paragliding License
The SPG1 novice license is a trainee license that allows you to fly solo under instructor supervision. It focuses on safe basic flight skills.
- Correct unpacking, packing, and layout of the paraglider and harness before each flight.
- Five point pre flight safety check and firm control of ground handling and canopy inflation.
- Consistent ability to take off, use directional control, and land safely in a standing position.
- Completion of at least six satisfactory paragliding flights on at least two bunny hills.
- Understanding of hard landing technique and how to protect yourself during imperfect landings.
- Ability to assess suitable weather conditions and evaluate launch and landing areas.
- Experience working as a launch assistant and demonstrating a safe attitude toward paragliding.
The SPG1 course usually takes eight days, depending on weather conditions and student progress.
SPG2+3 – Twelve Day Paragliding License
The SPG2+3 paragliding license is recognized worldwide and is aimed at students who want to fly independently in many different sites. You must complete SPG1 before starting this course.
- Advanced pre flight preparation, in flight training, and landing techniques for different terrain and wind conditions.
- Advanced flight control, including acceleration, increased sink, 360 turns, one handed control, big ears, thermaling, and soaring.
- Training in airflow theory, staying in lift, extending airtime, and performing top landings when permitted.
- A written test that covers theory, safety, and local regulations.
- At least 35 flights are required to qualify for the full SPG2+3 license.
- You can choose any 12 training days that fit your schedule and book the first date as your starting day.
When you complete SPG2+3 you receive a paragliding license that allows you to fly without direct instructor supervision, subject to local regulations and site rules.
- Cancellation and refunds Full refund if you cancel at least 5 days before the scheduled activity. A 50 percent charge applies if you cancel 24 hours to 4 days in advance. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the course are charged in full. If training is cancelled due to weather, you will receive a full refund.
- Equipment and size range Training equipment is provided if your weight is between 50 and 100 kilograms and your height is between 150 and 190 centimeters. Harnesses and wings are matched to student size and conditions.
- Health requirements Students should be at least 18 years old and must not have heart disease or other high risk medical conditions. If you are unsure, consult your doctor before booking a paragliding training course in Taiwan.

Instructor qualifications
- Instructors are licensed and certified by Taiwan paragliding bodies and hold international training credentials.
- Each instructor has at least five years of paragliding teaching experience and more than 500 solo flights.
- All instructors are trained in first aid and CPR so that they can respond quickly in emergency situations.

- You can reach the training site directly by car from Puli or other parts of Nantou County.
- Free shuttle bus is available from Puli downtown for students who request pickup in advance.
- From Taichung High Speed Rail station or Taichung Airport, it is about a one hour drive by car or taxi. Pickup can be arranged for Taichung at about TWD 2000 per car one way.
- Long distance bus number 1823 from Taipei travels toward the Puli and Nantou area, with onward transport to the training site.
